This novel tells the story about fifty-year-old pediatrician Patricio Rodriguez, committed to his patients and bitter for not knowing love. He is like Victor Hugo’s hunchback of Notre Dame, locked up in a hospital with no other life other than work. When he was young, he decided to focus on his studies and to achieve his objective: to be a great doctor. But he forgot to go through the sweet paths of young love, giving up homo Ludens. The only thing he will not give up is trying to find a woman’s poetic and carnal love, and above all, fatherly love. The story takes place in Yucatan’s Peninsula in Mexico and this makes it be immersed in the wonderful Mayan worldview, which will make his objective easier.
